Growing up in an Auburn family and a Tiger fan for as long as I can remember, it was a natural choice to choose Auburn University for my college education. I will be graduating in May 2018 and will continue to use my education and excitement for lifelong learning in the field of social media marketing and communications. Auburn has been my second home for the past four years. Although I am very excited to graduate, Auburn will always hold a special place in my heart.


This spring, I will be graduating with a degree in Public Relations. My passion for people and learning led me to Public Relations. I am so happy to have chosen this field, because it has been the best fit for me. I am able to use my reading and writing skills and all that social media has to offer. As a lifelong learner, Auburn has given me everything that I need to prepare for the future and has helped mold me into the person I am today. I look forward to applying my skillset and passion for helping others in a professional setting involving an organization or company.



RELEVANT COURSE WORK:


  • Foundations of PR: This course is designed to overview the functions, practices and growing applications of public relations in both private industry and the public sector.

  • Survey Research: This course works on identifying, characterizing, and evaluating stakeholder groups and alternative channels of communication; formal research procedures including sampling, instrument design, information gathering, data processing, analysis and reporting.

  • Public Relations Campaigns: This course practices the application of theory, research data and problem-solving techniques in the development of comprehensive public relations strategies.

  • Writing for Public Relations: This course emphasizes communication tactics; planning, writing and producing public relations tools; audience and media selection; print and electronic media.

  • Newswriting: As an introduction to newswriting techniques, this course emphasizes learning news values, recognizing parts of a story and writing stories that meet standards of accuracy, grammar, style, spelling, law and ethics.

  • Style and Design: This is the course within the public relations curriculum that applies style and design to public relations messages through the use of various content management systems and creative software.

  • Public Relations Case Studies: This is a course designed to instill public relations students with an understanding of both effective and ineffective methods of PR through studying actual cases from the field itself.

  • Reporting: This course teaches the various tasks of news reporting, emphasizing such issues as gathering information and preparing articles and other news reports under deadline pressure, beat reporting, understanding legal and ethical issues and applying reporting principles to a variety of assignments.
